Starting in 2022 by the Pittsburgh Steelers, the High School Girls Flag Football League was started in an effort to meet the goal of having flag football as a sanctioned sport in Pennsylvania. Through the dedication of the PFFL staff in partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers Youth Football staff, the league has grown exponentially in the first three seasons. Now that girls flag football has reached the PIAA status of Sanctioned, the 2025 season looks to be one of the largest and most exciting yet.
