Getting to Know the SAINTS

The SAINTS came into week three of the PFFL youth season with a 2-1 record, and Coach George Williams attributes the team’s success to their dedication and communication.

“They’re motivated and talkative,” he said.

Williams knows a little bit about both areas, being a motivated member of the PFFL’s STALLIONS for several seasons.

However, heading into the action, the SAINTS were without 11-year-old Josh DiMatteo, who two weeks into the season is already earning rave reviews for his play on the field. But the SAINTS have several other talented players, according to eight-year-old Jehlani Alston.

“I think we’re good,” he said. “We’re a good team at running.”

Alston may be right about that, but 10-year-old Ashley Jackson and eight-year-old Kyneil Wyatt have become known for their catching early in the season. And as 11-year-old Enrique Mckenzie explains, the league is all about having fun.

“I joined because it involved football,” he said. “We’re having fun and learning from coach.”

Wyatt joined in by saying that the league “is fun.”

One thing is for certain, the SAINTS are a talented and fun-loving bunch. If the team keeps listening to their coach, they could make it a long way.
