In a close game where earning points was increasingly difficult, the Ravens outlasted the Saints 7-6. Led by Quarterback Khalil Weathers, the Ravens benefitted from converting their only extra point opportunity.

While both offenses struggled to execute their offenses, Weathers and the Ravens took a 7-0 lead after the quarterback found Khalil Schaffer wide open in the back of the end zone. Weathers explained his chemistry with Munchie on the game-winning play. “Since all of my other receivers were on the right as well as the defenders, I just told the center [Munchie] to run a quick slant left,” Weathers explained. “Munchie and another receiver were open in the back right of the end zone so I just lobbed it up.”

According to Munchie, his father PFFL All-Star Dennis “Shor D” Wolford taught him how to play flag football. Munchie got open “because when my dad says ‘play 1’ I know where to go because he taught us play 1,” he said.

Although the Ravens were victorious, their opponents played an excellent game as well. Specifically, Saints Wide Receiver Ashley Jackson made a spectacular play that resulted in the Saints only score. After catching a pass, Jackson sprinted past the Raven defense to the end zone. When asked what was going through her mind as she was scoring a touchdown, Jackson replied “just run.”

In addition to Jackson, her teammate Joshua DiMatteo is an exceptional young athlete. “I have experience,” he said. “I got taught by my brother [COBRA WR John DiMatteo] and I’ve played in other leagues.”

After the game Saints’ WR Travis Varner explained what his team needed to improve upon to secure a victory next time. “Well, we gotta run faster, put more effort into it, run routes good and we also gotta catch and run with the ball better,” he said.
