Coming off consecutive wins against the BENGALS and STEELERS, the CHARGERS entered week four showing steady improvement. On Sunday, everything came together as the team’s offense and defense combined for their best effort of the season in a 58-6 rout of the SAINTS.

The CHARGERS dominated the contest from the start, going up 14-0 within five minutes. The offense took advantage of the left side of the field, gaining the edge on both plays and scoring down the sideline.

On the other side, the SAINTS rushing attack had a difficult day as the CHARGERS’ defense was swarming to the ball. They came up empty on every possession in the first half, and the CHARGERS took advantage, doubling their advantage with two more quick scores to take a commanding 28-0 lead into the second half.

The SAINTS attempted to respond in the second half by opening up their passing attack, but the strategy backfired as the CHARGERS came up with back-to-back interception returns. At the midway point of the second half, the score was 42-0 in favor of the CHARGERS.

As time wound down, the SAINTS were able to get on the scoreboard with a nice drive capped by a touchdown run down the right sideline. By that point, though, the game had long since been decided, as the CHARGERS cruised to a 58-6 win.

The win improves the CHARGERS to 3-1 on the year as they sit just one game back of the RAIDERS heading into the last week of the season. The two teams will collide next week with the division title potentially on the line at 1:55 on field 3. Meanwhile, the SAINTS will look to get their first win of the season in a doubleheader against the STEELERS and BRONCOS.
