The high-flying CARDINALS came into the week against a winless EAGLES team

The high-flying CARDINALS came into the week against a winless EAGLES team with high expectations and all signs leading to a big win to keep them in the hunt for first place.

The CARDINALS came out swinging on both sides of the ball and started to move into cruise control after a big interception on defense led to a touchdown that found the CARDINALS in front by double digits.  The CARDINALS defense was not giving up an inch in the first half to preserve their lead. The EAGLES kept taking their shots down the field and came close, but just couldn’t connect early.

With their defense sputtering, the EAGLES looked to their defense to breath some life back into them, and they responded in a big way.  The CARDINALS were looking to pour it on, but the EAGLES defense came through on a big interception on an errant pass that led to their first of two defensive scores on the day.  From that play on the EAGLES were a different team, and this game was anyone’s game.

Playing their best football of the season, the EAGLES went punch for punch with a CARDINALS team that has found their stride as of late. After a second half full of fireworks and what seemed like non-stop scoring, the EAGLES finally pulled ahead to complete the upset of the CARDINALS by a score of 19-18 to breath some life into their season and keep them in the thick of things in the standings.
