The boom in participation for flag football has been noticed across the board, but it’s nowhere as evident as it was on that field on Sunday at JC Stone Field

Everyone knows that Sundays are for football, but as Sunday showed at North Park, flag football can take center stage too. With four games on the docket for the afternoon on October 1, North Park was buzzing with football players and their families alike.  The field was full of fantastic plays and high energy, but the families on the sideline that came to support the players came with just as much energy. Every play had cheers and parents screaming, and the heartbreak on last minute plays was echoed from players and coaches to siblings and parents.

The boom in participation for flag football has been noticed across the board, but it’s nowhere as evident as it was on that field on Sunday.  Stigmas can pop up about non-contact football leagues and the talent that they attract, but anyone watching the youth level games that day knows that this league has attracted some of the best young athletes around. Leaping catches, spin moves, and tight defense was on high display and there is no reason to think that it won’t keep up.

Each team in the North Park division boasts players of every skill level and that’s what makes it great. This league has grown exponentially and the product on the field has shown. It has blended family involvement and fun with a competitiveness and skill display that few youth leagues have, and with that combination, the sky's the limit for flag football at North Park this season and beyond.
