SWAGGER Quarterback Mike Counahan was impressive, completing 73.3% of his passes for 3 touchdowns.

In a battle featuring two teams trying to learn how to win, TEAM SWAGGER was good enough to defeat SHOWTIME 19-16. Although the score was pretty low for most of the game, there’s never a dull (or quiet) moment when SHOWTIME Captain Anthony Garrett is on the field. Throughout the contest, Garrett was vocal and productive, leading all receivers with 9 catches and 1 touchdown.

Unfortunately SHOWTIME couldn’t preserve the lead that they amassed in the first half. Quarterback Harold Russell found Garrett for a touchdown, giving SHOWTIME a 7-0 advantage over SWAGGER.

SWAGGER Quarterback Mike Counahan was impressive, completing 73.3% of his passes for 3 touchdowns. His scoring throws to Jamal Loman and Matt Boni put SWAG up 13-7. On the ensuing extra-point attempt, Garrett picked off Counahan and advanced to the end zone, making the score 13-8.

On SHOWTIME’s next possession, Russell led his team on a scoring drive that culminated with a touchdown pass to Osaze Nerudin. SHOWTIME went up 14-13.

With their backs suddenly against the wall, the SWAGGER players rebounded with a Counahan touchdown pass to Ryan Gilson. The score was 19-14.

As Russell drove SHOWTIME up the field, his team looked poised to go back in front when Loman (aptly named given his 5’1” height) undercut a low pass and completed the interception for SWAG.

“I was covering the man on the outside, dropped back five yards and I seen the man cross,” Loman explained. “So I decided to jump the route.”

After forcing a safety on Counahan, SHOWTIME had one last chance to make a comeback. With two timeouts and 15 seconds left, Russell threw two passes to Nerudin who never got out of bounds to stop the clock. Garrett was visibly upset with Nerudin as time ran out.
