“Its pretty tough especially against a veteran team like that, it would be tough to beat them with five guys.”

Winning games in the Pittsburgh Flag Football League is hard enough with the talent and intense competition each week.

Try winning one a man down.

“It’s pretty tough,” THE GOODs’ Nick Keefer said following a 20-7 loss to the PRO BOWLERS on Sunday. “Especially against a veteran team like that, it would be tough to beat them with five guys.”

Keefer, playing at quarterback, did to make it a game. He completed nine of 19 passes and ran for a meandering touchdown that included a deft spin move to get passed the final defender. However, it wasn’t enough to pull off the win.

“It’s hard to play with only three,” said the PRO BOWLERS’ Mike Kregiel, who went 13 of 19 passing with three touchdowns and two interceptions. “We’ve done it before. It’s even hard for us as opponents to get up for a game like this.”

After building a 13-6 halftime lead, the PRO BOWLERS added their final touchdown on the second play of the half. Kregiel hit Mark Kobistek on a slant at midfield, and the receiver out sprinted the defense for the score.

THE GOODS would turn the ball over on downs their next possession but got it back when C.J. Bell intercepted Kregiel near the end zone to give them another opportunity.

However, the PRO BOWLER quarterback made up for it on defense. He recorded three tackles on the next four plays including two sacks on Keefer. The final sack came on fourth down ending THE GOODS comeback attempt.

“He’s 6-2 with a 7-2 wingspan,” Keefer said.
