Jason Bialek has been considered one of the league’s most dangerous receivers for several seasons. He was always one of DEFIANT quarterback P.J. McGuigan’s favorite targets because of his shifty moves in the open field.

But Bialek was sick of losing. So he took sack king Ryan Lancia from DEFIANT, as well as some other key pieces and started his own team: the VULTURES.

Week one of the PFFL season gave DEFIANT the opportunity to prove Bialek was dumb for leaving, but it didn’t play out that way as the VULTURES defeated DEFIANT, 13-7, in the first true grudge match of the season.

Lance Brunsell, Bialek’s new quarterback with the VULTURES, completed 16 of 25 passes and two touchdowns. And while Bialek was kept out of the endzone, he was able to control the game catching eight passes. Last season’s stud rookie, Ray Toomey, and DeVaughn McClinton were the beneficiaries of Brunsell’s touchdown passes.

The VULTURES were strong defensively as well, as the athletic bunch was able to accrue eight tackles, with McClinton and Frank Swick having three apiece.

For DEFIANT, all-star quarterback P.J. McGuigan had a strong game, completing over 72 percent of his passes, and throwing for one touchdown.

His strong performance was not enough, as Bialek gets the first laugh of the PFFL season.
