After an early defensive breakdown, the STINGERS rebounded to smother TIGGY TIME 23-6. On their opening drive, TIGGY TIME looked like a team ready to change its losing reputation. Quarterback Robert Lang found Eric Cavill for a touchdown to take a 6-0 lead over the STINGERS.

Unfortunately TIGGY TIME had no answer for the impressive STINGER defense. Specifically, the STINGERS forced four turnovers on Lang (3 interceptions and 1 safety-sack). Defensive Back Joe Jacobs led the STINGER “D” with an interception and a safety-sack that sealed the victory for his team.

Jacobs, formerly of ILLUMINATI, explained that he was satisfied with his debut on the STINGERS. “I had one game to adjust to the way my teammates were playing,” he said. “All I had to do was play my position well and the rest of the guys took care of everything else.”

Jacobs has experience playing with STINGERS’ Quarterback Ian Scanga in the Pittsburgh Indoor Sports (PISA) league. Speaking of Scanga, the signal-caller threw two touchdown passes to Robert Rankin. Throughout the game Scanga was able to expose wrinkles in the TIGGY TIME defense that usually resulted in long completions to Rankin.

Also All-Star Wide Receiver Carl Peterson was key in the success of the STINGER defense. Peterson intercepted an errant pass by Lang and returned the pick for a touchdown.

Finally, Marty contributed an interception for the STINGERS.

While the STINGERS looked impressive against the rebuilding TIGGY TIME squad, they shouldn’t get cocky over beating a team that had a pretty rocky week #1 of the spring season.
