Down 13-7, the DOLPHINS looked as if they tied the game when they broke through the defense and scored a touchdown.

It was an exciting end to the regular season in the 10-to-12 year-old age division Sunday, as the top two teams in the division took to the field looking to keep their chances of a division title alive. Both squads fought hard, but the SEAHAWKS defeated the DOLPHINS 13-7 thanks to a late-second-half touchdown.

The SEAHAWKS got the ball to start the game and quickly picked up the first down with a long pass to Anthony Orlando. The DOLPHINS defense stood tall though, shutting down the SEAHAWKS’ passing attack and keeping them out of the end zone.

Things went no better for the DOLPHINS on their first possession, as they threw three straight incompletions and quickly turned the ball over. On the ensuing drive, the SEAHAWKS again picked up the first down on a catch by Orlando. This time, they were able to punch it in, scoring on a short pass to take a 7-0 lead.

Attempting to bounce back and tie the game, the DOLPHINS turned the ball over on their next possession and it appeared the SEAHAWKS would have a lead at halftime. But, with less than a minute left, they received a big break as the SEAHAWKS’ quarterback lobbed a pass deep downfield only to have it intercepted and returned all the way for a touchdown.

At the break, the game was knotted at seven with the DOLPHINS set to receive the opening kickoff. But their momentum quickly came to a halt with a turnover on downs and a SEAHAWKS touchdown.

Down 13-7, the DOLPHINS looked as if they tied the game when they broke through the defense and scored a touchdown. But, the play was called back for impeding the rusher, and the SEAHAWKS retained their six-point lead. The DOLPHINS went on to turn the ball over, and the SEAHAWKS were able to close the game out, improving to 4-1 on the year.

Heading into the playoffs July 23, both teams are in good shape and hope to make a run to the championship. It should be an exciting week, as many teams have a chance to win it all.
