The WRENIS PINKLES showed they could keep up, but the experience of the DISORDERLIES was what decided the game in the end.

At the end of the regular season, the DISORDERLIES were the overwhelming favorite to come out on top in the Division II playoffs. After handling the MUD DOGS in the semifinals, the outcome seemed even more likely.

They met the WRENIS PINKLES in the finals, and the underdog presented more of a challenge than anyone else all season. It was the most exciting championship game of the year, as the squads went back and forth for the entire contest.

The DISORDERLIES got the ball to start the game and quickly took a 7-0 lead on their first possession. The WRENIS PINKLES drove deep into DISORDERLIES’ territory on the ensuing drive, but the defense came up big, making a sack on fourth down to keep the lead.

Quarterback Shor D Wolford made it 13-0 with a short shovel pass to the end zone, and early on, it looked like the DISORDERLIES would roll to victory.

But the WRENIS PINKLES surged, scoring 13 unanswered points to tie the game a few minutes into the second half. The DISORDERLIES looked to answer, driving the length of the field to set up a go-ahead scoring chance. Wolford dropped back to pass, throwing the ball towards the goal line when Corey Blotzer stepped in front of the receiver and picked it off for the WRENIS PINKLES.

The DISORDERLIES got the ball back after a turnover on downs and had a chance to win the game with just over a minute left. On first down, receiver Sam Simon flew by the cornerback and was wide open. Wolford’s pass hit his hands, but Simon was unable to haul it in and the game headed to overtime.

After the WRENIS PINKLES failed to convert their opportunity, the DISORDERLIES had two downs to win the game. The team ran a crossing route at the goal line and Wolford fired the ball into a tight gap. The receiver came down with the catch, and the DISORDERLIES survived to win the championship, 19-13.

It was a dominating spring for the DISORDERLIES, whose only loss came at the hands of PRIMETIME — Division I’s Champion. The WRENIS PINKLES showed they could keep up, but the experience of the DISORDERLIES was what decided the game in the end.
