The win was a big one for the WRENIS PINKLES, who were just a half-game ahead of the BLACK KNIGHTS heading into the weekend.

The matchup between the 5-2 WRENIS PINKLES and the 1-4 BROAD STREET BREWERS was expected to be one of the more lopsided games of the weekend, but it ended up being one of the most entertaining as the WRENIS PINKLES survived by a score of 26-18.

The game got off to the start most expected, as BROAD STREET BREWERS’ quarterback Gerald Okeefe threw an interception on the team’s first possession. WRENIS PINKLES took the lead on the ensuing drive, scoring on a touchdown pass by quarterback Corey Blotzer. The conversion attempt was good, and WRENIS PINKLES had an early 7-0 lead.

BROAD STREET responded though, as the team drove the length of the field, scoring a touchdown and cutting the deficit to one at the half.

WRENIS PINKELS opened the second half with a quick touchdown drive, pushing their lead back out to seven. But the BREWERS came back again, as Okeefe scrambled down the right sideline on the opening play of the drive for a touchdown. Heading into the final minutes, WRENIS PINKES had a one-point lead, and it was still anybody’s game.

Each squad scored a touchdown on their next possession, but a missed two-point conversion attempt by the BREWERS made it 20-18 WRENIS PINKLES with one minute remaining.

The WRENIS PINKLES with a chance to run out the clock. The offense was able to grind out the first down, scoring on a long run a few plays later to put the game out of reach.

The win was a big one for the WRENIS PINKLES, who were just a half-game ahead of the BLACK KNIGHTS heading into the weekend. For the BROAD STREET BREWERS, the loss keeps them in the basement of the Iron North division with only one week until the PFFL playoffs.
