The big games tend to bring out the best in players, and this one will be no exception. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. on field one.

Heading into the last few weeks of the season, the teams in the seven- to nine- year-old age division are starting to find out where they’ll stand when the playoffs begin.

With first and last place currently separated by only 2.5 games, the division’s standings are tight. Anything can happen, and it is shaping up to be a thrilling finish to the regular season.

The DOLPHINS (2-1) and EAGLES (1-2) are two teams right in the thick of things. Presently, both sit within two games of the first-place SAINTS. The squads have very different specialties, as the DOLPHINS excel on offense while the EAGLES focus on defense.

The EAGLES — who have yet to beat a team over .500 — will face a monumental challenge this week. The team’s only win came against the BROWNS in week two by a score of 13-6. In their other two contests, the team lost by a combined 17 points, including a 12-0 shutout at the hands of the CHARGERS.

A lack of offense has let the group down so far, as the unit is averaging just under nine points a game. The defense has been exceptional though, only giving up 12 points per contest.

The DOLPHINS are quite the opposite, as their offense ranks among the best in the division. After a rough start, the defense has come along as well, allowing just eight points each of the last two weeks. They enter this contest as the favorites, but, as this division has shown, no game is a sure win.

A victory this week would be hugely significant for each team. For the DOLPHINS, a win would solidify their place in the top half of the division and keep the SAINTS under pressure. Meanwhile, the EAGLES need to avoid falling too far below .500.

Much is on the line, and neither team should have an issue getting motivated. The big games tend to bring out the best in players, and this one will be no exception. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. on field one.
