It should be an exciting contest, as it pits two electric offenses against two stifling defenses. Kickoff is at 10:35 a.m. on field 2.

This weekend at Cupples Field, Steel Central leaders PRIMETIME will have a tall task if they hope to keep their undefeated season going, as they take on the 3-2 DEL FUEGOS, whose defense has been one of the best in the league, allowing only 14.6 points per game.

The DEL FUEGOS defense is led by a pair of high-flying players in Scott Kaercher and Jon Laux. Look for Kaercher to put pressure on PRIMETIME quarterback Jason Scott, as he has recorded every one of the team’s nine sacks this year. Laux has been the squad’s leader in the secondary, tallying four interceptions including two which were returned for a touchdown.

PRIMETIME’S offense won’t be easy to stop though, as the unit ranks second in Division 1 in points scored. In addition, Scott boasts the league’s top completion percentage, connecting on 85.7 percent of his throws thus far this Spring.

Scott’s leading receiver has been Kenny Ashmore, who ranks first on the team in both receptions and touchdowns with 28 and 9, respectively.

PRIMETIME has been just as good on the defensive side of the ball, giving up a mere 3.8 points per game. They have shutout three opponents so far, including 4-2 MMG last week.

DEL FUEGOS will attempt to counter with quarterback Bob Lee and receiver Dave Sexhour. Lee has thrown for 16 touchdowns as opposed to four interceptions, and his steady play has kept the team in contention for the division title. Sexhour has caught nearly half of Lee’s touchdown passes, hauling in seven on the year.

For DEL FUEGOS to solve PRIMETIME’s defense and pull off the upset, both Lee and Sexhour will need to be at their best. And while they are the underdogs, this game is far from a sure win for PRIMETIME. It should be an exciting contest, as it pits two electric offenses against two stifling defenses. Kickoff is at 10:35 a.m. on field 2.
