NORTHSIDE INFANTRY didn’t look like a winless team on Sunday morning, as they dominated the ESKIMO BROTHERS in a 39-19 win to claim their first victory of the year.

Quarterback Justin Budai had arguably his best game of the season for NORTHSIDE INFANTRY (1-5), completing 12 of 13 passes. He threw a whopping six touchdowns and only made one mistake — an interception on his only incomplete pass.

The game got off to a terrible start for ESKIMO BROTHERS (1-5) as they were down 7-0 after giving up a touchdown in just two plays. Things got worse on their first possession when quarterback Mike Barnes threw the ball right into the hands of a NORTHSIDE INFANTRY defender. NORTHSIDE INFANTRY scored on the first play of their ensuing drive, taking a 13-0 lead.

A goal-line stand on the ESKIMO BROTHERS’ next possession gave NORTHSIDE INFANTRY the ball just before halftime. They drove the length of the field, scoring just before the clock expired and expanding their lead to 20.

The second half was a much more even affair, as the two offenses took command of the game.

The ESKIMO BROTHERS cut into the deficit after the half with a touchdown pass on their first possession, making it 20-7. But NORTHSIDE INFANTRY came right back, scoring on the first play of their next drive.

The offenses continued to pummel the defenses for the remainder of the game, as neither defense was able to make a stop in the last 20 minutes. The back-and-forth play wasn’t good enough for ESKIMO BROTHERS, who were unable to mount a comeback and dropped to last place in the Steel North division with the loss.

The ESKIMO BROTHERS have two weeks off before taking on the 1-4 BROAD STREET BREWERS on Sunday, April 23. NORTHSIDE INFANTRY returns next week, looking to get their second win in a row in a matchup against the MUD DOGS.
