Week four of the PFFL spring season includes several critical games, but one of the most even matchups looks to be the Division 2 game between the MUD DOGS and the BLACK KNIGHTS.

Each squad has gotten off to an up-and-down start and sits in the middle of their respective division. The MUD DOGS are currently 2-3 on the year, but are fresh off a 27-7 win over the BROAD STREET BREWERS. The BLACK KNIGHTS are 3-1, with the lone loss coming at the hands of the WRECKING CREW in week two.

Quarterback Zack Bahr and wide receiver Brad Mosley — the team’s leader in touchdown receptions — conduct the BLACK KNIGHTS’ offense. Look for them to throw the ball often — the team has only rushed the ball seven times thus far this season.

Most of the weight has fallen on Bahr’s shoulders, but he has come through, completing 57.6 percent of his passes and amassing an 11:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Casey Haughey and Bryan Thomas have split quarterback duties for the MUD DOGS early on. The results have been mixed, with the two gunslingers combining to throw five touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

But the team boasts a trio of impressive receivers who have picked up the slack. Scott Herchelroath, Joe Haughey, and Santeaun Sims have been outstanding so far, reeling in 41 of the team’s 51 completed passes, including all six touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, both teams have been fairly average. The MUD DOGS have allowed 14.8 points per game, slightly better than the BLACK KNIGHTS’ 15.25. Each side has been inconsistent though, and the contest should be a high-flying battle between two prolific offenses.

The game is shaping up to be one of the most exciting of the season, with both teams looking to gain some momentum heading into the middle of the season.
