“If people are arguing I try to diffuse the situation, we’re not here to argue; we’re here to win.”

This year’s Frost Bowl Tournament featured the familiar faces of STEEL TOWN, the HORSEMEN, and the BULLDOGS. All of the aforementioned teams have experienced a great deal of success in the PFFL. While the returning teams represent the league’s loyal participants, the new teams symbolize the PFFL’s continued growth.

Ladies and gentlemen it gives me great honor to introduce one of the newest teams from the Steel City. Please put your hands together for STEEL GIFTED. Originally from South Hills, STEEL GIFTED is a six-man team of backyard football players. No one on the team has football experience beyond the playground; however these guys are exactly the type of blue-collar players that PFFL sportswriters love to cover.

A week before the Frost Bowl tourney, a couple players from the Carnegie Flag Football League learned about the PFFL tournament. Quarterback Matt Klayko was instrumental in assembling the team.

While all of the players know the rules of flag football, the PFFL version was initially overwhelming for STEEL GIFTED as they lost 18-7 to the veteran CYCLONES.

When asked what will help his team play better in their next game, Eric Spratt replied, “knowing the rules.” He continued, “We need to get rid of the ball quicker, get yards every play, and no penalties.”

Spratt is the level-headed leader of STEEL GIFTED. “If people are arguing I try to diffuse the situation,” he said. “We’re not here to argue; we’re here to win.”

Despite losing their opening game, STEEL GIFTED appreciated the overall quality of the PFFL tournament. “This is nice and structured compared to the Carnegie Flag League,” Spratt said. “This is big time compared to that.”
