For two high-powered offenses with two of the best quarterbacks in the league, the game was extremely low-scoring but ended in favor of SUICIDE SQUAD.

My bracket prediction came true this Sunday in the matchup and the victor of the Iron Conference Championship.  The game featured two of the league’s elite teams in PRIMETIME and SUICIDE SQUAD.  Both teams are overly familiar with each other and because of that, this matchup was competitive, aggressive, and intense throughout the whole game.  For two high-powered offenses with two of the best quarterbacks in the league, the game was extremely low-scoring but ended in favor of SUICIDE SQUAD.  Here’s a recap of the game.

Both teams were slow to get things going on offense early on.  SUICIDE SQUAD started with the ball and went four and out.  PRIMETIME’s first offensive possession ended even quicker after QB Jason Scott was intercepted by DJ Douglas on second down.

However, both teams were able to fix their mistakes on their next possessions to put points on the board.  After several incompletions, SUICIDE SQUAD’s QB Cornell Mack took the ball on his own, running the ball on two straight downs to gain positive yardage for his team.  Just outside the endzone, Mack found Dane Williams in the endzone for the touchdown.  The extra point was good to Brandon Seachrist and SUICIDE SQUAD took a 7-0 lead.

However, PRIMETIME’s offense was ready to answer the score.  After completions to go-to veteran Kenny Ashmore and Jordan Thomas, Scott found Kory Vorum in the endzone for the touchdown.  PRIMETIME failed to convert the extra point and went into halftime down 7-6.

SUICIDE SQUAD came out of halftime ready to win a conference championship.  They forced PRIMETIME to turn the ball over on downs and then capitalized on their defensive stop.  After two incompletions, Mack regrouped to complete a pass to Dane Williams who evaded tackles to work his way into the endzone for his second touchdown of the game.  A leaping extra point grab by Seachrist extended the lead to 14-6.

That score proved to be the last points either teams would have all game.  The defenses completely took over and the offenses just could not get anything going.  There was great wide receiver – cornerback matchups on both teams and most pass attempts in the second half were broken up and batted down.  PRIMETIME had the chance twice in the “redzone” to score and tie the game but failed to convert the touchdown.  The game ended with a final score of 14-6, making SUICIDE SQUAD the Iron Conference Champions.

Overall, this game wasn’t the best for either team as both looked sloppy at times on offense, something unusual for the typically smooth-running offenses.  Because of that aspect, the teams looked to their defenses to get the job done and it proved to be SUICIDE SQUAD’s that was the difference maker.  They made two huge goal-line stops that sealed the deal for them, led by DJ Douglas who had a stand-out game on defense.

PRIMETIME dominated the regular season and should be recognized for their 10-0 undefeated record.  However, it was SUICIDE SQUAD who handed them their first loss of the season and earned the Fall 2016 Iron Conference Championship title.
