Nearing the end of the adult league regular season, we had a competitive matchup between PUCK U and PRIMETIME.  Going into the game PRIMETIME held an undefeated record of 6-0 and PUCK U was tied for second in the Steel North.

Both teams got off to a strong start offensively in the first half.  On their opening drive, PUCK U QB Adam Zyski drove his team down the field on several short completions to his slew of wide receivers.  PUCK U capped off their 6-play drive with a touchdown from Zyski to Josh Linton in the middle of the endzone.

After a successful extra point to Travis Dunn, it was PRIMETIME’s turn with the ball.  After incompletions on their first two downs, PRIMETIME QB Jason Scott regrouped with three completions to his go-to Kenny Ashmore – the third of which went for a touchdown.

Ashmore would step it up on defense as well, picking off Zyski on PUCK U’s next possession.  PRIMETIME got the ball back and worked quickly against the clock.  It only took them three plays to add another touchdown, to Ashmore yet again, and PRIMETIME went into halftime with a 12-6 lead.

The second half was dominated by the offenses and featured a combined six touchdowns between the two teams.  Coming out of halftime, PRIMETIME sustained a seven-play drive, finishing it off with a shuffle pass to Ashmore for a touchdown.  However, PUCK U answered right back with a touchdown of their own when Zyski found Ryan Church wide open in the corner of the endzone.

PRIMETIME quickly responded on first down of their second possession.  Scott found speedster Mike Kelley for a long bomb down the field for a touchdown.  Down 26-14, PUCK U showed they weren’t done yet.  Facing a fourth down outside the endzone, Zyski took control and ran into the endzone for the touchdown.

However, PRIMETIME displayed their dominance answering PUCK U’s rally with another touchdown to Kelley – this time a quick pass that broke out and ended with Kelley running the length of the field.  PRIMETIME definitively ended PUCK U’s chance of a comeback when Ashmore picked off Zyski and Scott threw to him on the next play for a touchdown.  The high-scoring game ended in a final score of 39-21 in favor of PRIMETIME.
