The COLTS’ first win of the season was well-deserved in this one.

Week 4 of the youth league featured an interesting matchup of two winless teams.  Both the CARDINALS and the COLTS came into Sunday at 0-3 and were ready to battle for their first win of the season.

On their opening drive, the COLTS came out ready to play.  Micah Caldwell started things off with a short run on first down.  After an incomplete pass, QB Nathan O’Leary completed a pass to Reece Hankinson, who turned on the jets and ran the length of the field for a touchdown.

Down 6-0, the CARDINALS struggled to get anything going on offense.  Rushes by Xander Gordon and Dominick Basham went for little yardage and the CARDINALS turned the ball over on downs.  All three of their offensive drives in the first half would suffer the same result.

The CARDINALS came out of halftime ready to put some points on the board.  After a long pass play from Theo Baldwin to Xander on first down, Xander handed off to Theo who ran into the endzone for a CARDINALS touchdown, narrowing the deficit to 14-6.

However, the COLTS answered right back with a touchdown of their own.  After a short run by Carson Verk, Nathan handed the ball off to Reece, who took it the length of the field for a touchdown.  Nathan found Steven Okonkwo in the endzone for a successful 2-pt conversion.

Both teams would turn the ball over on downs on their next possessions.  However, unlike the CARDINALS, the COLTS were still able to put more points on the board before the half.  Micah ran the length of the field for a touchdown and Nathan intercepted off CARDINALS’ Theo Baldwin for a pick-six.  The game ended in a final score of 35-12 in favor of the mighty COLTS.

The COLTS’ first win of the season was well-deserved in this one.  Offensively, the team was led by Nathan, Micah, and Reese, who finished the game with three touchdowns.  On the defensive
