Unfortunately MARS is OVERRATED!

Historically inexperienced teams tend to struggle during their first year at the PFFL for a plethora of reasons. Insufficient knowledge of the rule book, lack of team chemistry, and unreliable attendance are just some of the challenges that teams face in their first years. While conventional wisdom says that MARS should not be anything close to stellar, their performance through the first six games of the FALL 2016 season have proven otherwise.

At 5-1 MARS is in position to challenge the BILLY GOATZ (6-0) for the STEEL EAST division crown. Their offense is averaging an impressive 26.5 points per game. Right now MARS looks poised to go on an unprecedented run as a rookie team.

Unfortunately MARS is OVERRATED!

According to strength of schedule all of MARS’s wins have come against free agent teams or rookie teams. Moreover, the one time that MARS played a veteran team they suffered an epic blowout. In Week 4, the BILLY GOATZ beat their STEEL EAST neighbors 35-7. BILLY GOATZ All-Star Jordan Fowler completed 20 of 26 passes with five touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Three out of the final four games of the season will for MARS will be against championship contenders: STEELTOWN, PRIMETIME, and PUCK U. If they are able to go 2-1 against elite competition then I will no longer remove the “overrated” label from the MARS team; but until that happens I stand by my statement.
