The COLTS showed strong talent, but just could not get anything going on offense.

This Sunday kicked off Week 1 of the PFFL youth league 2016 spring season.  All eight teams in the 7-9-year-old age division came ready to play and give it their all.  On Field 2, we had a first game matchup between the BILLS and the COLTS.

The BILLS are coached by Jason Russell and team members include James Anderson, Jeremy Klem, Haley Linn, Dominic Michnowicz, Jalen Patterson Bey, Jonah Ross-Grant, Curtis Sabo Jr., and Bo Stover.

Under the guidance of Coach Jay Morrison, the COLTS team members include Micah Caldwell, Daria Charron, Reece Hankinson, Chayce Kramer, Steven Okonkwo, Nathan O’Leary, Logan Hunter, and Carson Verk.

The BILLS were the first team to score in the game and they did it quickly.  On first down of their first possession, QB Bo Stover handed the ball off to Jalen Patterson Bey, who darted around defenders to run the length of the field for a touchdown.

On their first couple possessions, the COLTS tried several run plays to a mix of Chayce Kramer and Logan Hunter, but could not get anything going.  Their third possession spelled trouble when Jalen intercepted the ball and ran it all the way back for a BILLS touchdown.  However, the extra point was intercepted by Steven Okonkwo, putting the COLTS on the board down 12-1 at the half.

The BILLS came out of the second half strong.  Bo took a reverse handoff up the sideline the length of the field for a touchdown.  The COLTS tried to make a comeback passing the ball but were not able to score.  QB Nathan O’Leary did have several completions to teammates Steven, Reece Hankinson, and Micah Caldwell.  However, Bo Stover scored another touchdown for the BILLS and the game ended with a score of 24-1 in favor of the mighty BILLS.

Both teams gave it their all, but the BILLS proved to be too much for the COLTS to handle in this one.  The BILLS were led offensively by QB by Bo Stover, center Curtis Sabo Jr., and running backs James Anderson, Dominic Michnowicz, and Jalen Patterson Bey.  Jalen also made some great tackles on defense as well as Haley Linn, Jeremy Klem, and Jonah Ross-Grant.  If the BILLS keep up the impressive offensive play and their defense remains steady, they could be a team to watch out for.

The COLTS showed strong talent, but just could not get anything going on offense.  QB Nathan O’Leary had a few successful passes to teammates Micah and Steven, while Chayce and Logan also had some nice runs.  The defense was led by Daria Charron with some great tackles as well as Carson Verk and Reece.  The COLTS need to work on flag-grabbing and fine-tuning their offense as a whole – from set-ups to running plays.  However, if they continue to work hard and get organized, they could have a successful season.
