PRIMETIME looked impressive in all aspects in this game.

Sunday featured a highly anticipated matchup between two undefeated teams in PRIMETIME and WRECKING CREW.   This was also a matchup of former teammates – both WRECKING CREW’s Bruce Thorton and Jeff Bollinger played for PRIMETIME last year when they won the championship as ZIP EM UP.

The first half of the game was low-scoring, being dominated by the defenses of both teams.  The only score of the half was a touchdown on PRIMETIME’s first possession of the game.  After working his team to midfield, PRIMETIME QB Jason Scott connected with new team member Mike Kelley on a long ball for a touchdown.  WRECKING CREW failed to score twice and PRIMETIME went into halftime with a 7-0 lead.

Both offenses came out strong in the second half.  On their first possession, PRIMETIME’s Scott went to Kelley on a bomb downfield, but it was called back just short of the endzone due to a loss of flag.  However, this did not stop PRIMETIME and they scored on the next play with a pass from Scott to Jordan Thomas for a touchdown.

Down 14-0, WRECKING CREW began to work efficiently on offense.  QB Jeff Bollinger worked the ball downfield to eventually connect with Bruce Thorton who ran into the endzone for a touchdown.  However, PRIMETIME answered right back with a touchdown of their own.  Again, Mike Kelley raced downfield to beat his defender and Scott found him for a long bomb.

Down 20-7, the frustrations for WRECKING CREW seemed to mount.  Jeff Bollinger was given an unsportsmanlike penalty by the referee for choice words and thrown out of the game.  Former MGM QB Tony Battaglini took over and worked the team the length of the field.  Battaglini capped the drive off with a pass to Bruce Thorton in the back of the endzone for a touchdown.  A successful extra point brought WRECKING CREW within a possession.

However, their defense failed to stop PRIMETIME yet again.  After completing several passes, Scott connected with Kelley for the third time in the back of the endzone for a touchdown.  That proved to be the game-ender and the score ended in a final score of 27-14 in favor of PRIMETIME.

WRECKING CREW only had one defensive stop all game.  Offensively, WRECKING CREW has strong quarterbacks in Bollinger and Battaglini and talent at wide receiver in Thorton, who finished the game with 9 receptions and two TDs.  However, they cannot rely solely on Thorton.  WRECKING CREW’s defense has talent in Steve Killius, but that didn’t show today.  WRECKING CREW has the potential for a successful season if they can fix some issues on offense and strengthen their defense.

PRIMETIME looked impressive in all aspects in this game.  QB Jason Scott is a strong passer, completing 13 of his 16 passes and throwing for four touchdowns.  He has solid receivers in the trio of Kenny Ashmore, Jordan Thomas, and Mike Kelley, who finished with three TD receptions. Defensively, CJ Baker led the team in tackles with six.  Offense is definitely PRIMETIME’s strong suit, but as long as they maintain a strong defense to go with that offense, they are definitely the team to beat.
