‘Cisco and “X-Man” Lead FINS to 21-28 Win

Xander Gordon A.K.A. “X-Man” placed his fingerprints on the outcome of this game early.

In a competitive game from beginning to end the DOLPHINS showed up in the clutch to beat the BILLS 21-18. The win was significant for the ‘FINS because it was their first of the season. Unfortunately for the BILLS the loss dropped them to 0-4 in the Lower Division.

Xander Gordon A.K.A. “X-Man” placed his fingerprints on the outcome of this game early. On the BILLS first possession, Quarterback Chase Dusi had driven his squad to the red zone in three plays. As the passer attempted to throw a touchdown to one of his players, Gordon undercut the route of Dusi’s intended receiver and intercepted the pass. The young man returned the pick for a touchdown, giving the FINS a quick 6-0 lead

Not to be outdone by their opponents, Coach Stefan Ayers scrapped his first 15 plays and put the ball in the hands of his best playmaker, Devin Calloway. On a simple running play, Calloway juked past two defenders, hit the sideline and bolted to the end zone to even the score at six points.

To start off the second half, Steven Woods A.K.A. “Stevie Wonder” used his vision (how’s that for irony) on a breathtaking scoring play that put the FINS up 12-6 over the BILLS.

Even though the BILLS were down, they were far from out. After veering away from one of their best offensive weapons, Coach Ayers called Vir Patel’s number on third down. Patel caught a pass from Dusi in traffic and used a couple of cutback moves to score the BILLS’ second touchdown. Once again the score became tied 12-12.

For most of the game Francisco Luz A.K.A. “Cisco”  was quiet; however, once crunch time arrived he was ubiquitous. On a highlight-caliber play, Luz scored a TD and threw an extra point conversion to Dominick Basham to put the FINS back on top 19-12.

Apparently resilience was the theme of this game because neither team quit after the other scored a TD. True to form, the BILLS responded to the FINS’ late TD with one of their own to cut the lead to 19-18. Instead of settling for a one-point extra point attempt to tie the game, Coach Ayers decided to go for two to take the lead.

CISCO wasn’t having any of that.

As Chase attempted to complete a pass on the two-point conversion, Cisco intercepted the pass and ran all the way to the end zone. The play resulted in two more points for the FINS.

Regardless of the outcome, the BILLS should be confident in their ability to match the FINS point for point if these teams meet again in the postseason.
