VAPOR opened up the half and scored back-to-back touchdowns

What a better way to end the last week of the adult regular season than with a game between two undefeated teams: VAPOR and STEELTOWN.  After a competitive battle, VAPOR came out on top to end STEELTOWN’s chance at an undefeated season.

The first half was primarily dominated by the defenses.  On their opening drives, STEELTOWN QB Chris Sullivan found WR Mike Miller for a touchdown and VAPOR’s QB Cornell Mack threw one to WR Bryan Maldonado.  Both teams made defensive stops on their next two drives, but VAPOR added a late touchdown to go into halftime with a 13-6 lead.

On the other hand, the second half was offense-heavy.  VAPOR opened up the half and scored back-to-back touchdowns, one on their own offensive drive and the other by an Ed Tozzi pick-six.  STEELTOWN eventually scored a touchdown on their next drive on a pass from Sullivan to Miller.  However, VAPOR answered back with a TD bomb from Mack to Vermeulen.  Down two touchdowns, STEELTOWN got the ball back and scored quickly, but was unable to score again before time ran out.  VAPOR won by a final score of 31-20.

For the most part, both teams relied on short-passing to work their way up the field.  VAPOR’s Mack led his team to victory, completing 13 of his 22 passes and throwing for 4 TDs.  Vermeulen finished the game with a team-high 4 receptions and 3 receiving TDs.  Tozzi, Maldonado, and Dane Williams contributed 4 tackles each.

Offensively, STEELTOWN had too many incomplete passes, but not all were the fault of QB Chris Sullivan – rather most were drops by his receivers.  Sullivan finished the game with a 59% completion rate, 2 interceptions, and 3 TDs.  Mike Miller led the team all-around with 9 receptions, 5 tackles, and 2 receiving TDs.

STEELTOWN ends the regular season with only one loss, like their opponent VAPOR, who recorded one against ZIP EM UP.  Going into the bye week, STEELTOWN needs to work on improving their offense and VAPOR should work on solidifying their defense.  But look for both these teams to have long playoff runs, each with the possibility of a PFFL championship.
