As the current division leader, the MYSTERY MEN are on course to wrap up the STEEL NORTH

On Sunday, April 24, 9:50 AM MYSTERY MEN (6-3) and DECEPTICONS (5-3) will battle each other in a crucial STEEL CONFERENCE game. The winner of this contest will move one step closer towards capturing the STEEL NORTH crown.

As the current division leader, MYSTERY MEN is on course to wrap up the STEEL NORTH with a win against DECEPTICONS. Offensively, GANG GREEN is having their best season, averaging 24.3 points per game. Wide Receivers John Schohn and Dave Sexauer are early candidates for the STEEL All-Star Team this season. Schohn’s 39 receptions are tied for seventh in the league while Sexauer’s 11 touchdowns give him top five honors.

Did I forget to mention that perennial All-Star Scott Kaercher has 23 receptions and seven touchdowns?

Did I forget to mention that Kaercher also has 20 tackles and three picks on the year?

OK just checking.

One more thing: All-Star Quarterback Bob Lee is on fire with the passing game (completing 70 percent of his passes, 25 TDs, 6 INTs).

Although the MYSTERY MEN can beat you on both sides of the ball, the DECEPTICONS are extremely capable of winning this game for several reasons. First, All-Star QB Lance Brunsell has done a spectacular job at the helm in the absence of All-Star Sun Bear Coe (we are hopeful that Bear will play in our league again in the future). His leadership and passing skills have helped the DECEPTICONS average 28 points per game.

Second, the TRANSFORMERS have their own talented tandem of receivers. All-Star Brandon Seachrist (47 receptions, nine touchdowns) and EJ Taylor (42 receptions, 11 touchdowns) are both among the top five players in the receiving category. Add Dan Kaefer’s 36 receptions and six touchdowns to the mix and you have one of the most productive receiving corps in the entire league!

Finally, longtime PFFL player Robin Sewell gives the DECEPTICONS a competent pass rusher on defense. His six sacks are among the league leaders this season. In order to slow down the wheels of MYSTERY MEN’s Lee, Sewell will have to have his best game because Lee is as mobile as any QB not named Cornell Mack.

These teams are evenly matched but at the end of the day I expect the MYSTERY MEN to come out on top.
