One of the best games of the day was by far the matchup between MMG and BILLY GOATZ.  It was a closely fought battle but someone had to come out on top and that team was BILLY GOATZ.  Going into the game, both teams held impressive records, with MMG having two losses all season and BILLY GOATZ just one.

From the start of the first half, I could tell it was going to be a back-and-forth game.  MMG got the ball first and drove down the field for a touchdown from QB Tony Battaglini to WR Brandon Livsey.  BILLY GOATZ answered right back with a touchdown of their own from QB Jordan Fowler to WR Simon Bekavac.  Both teams added another touchdown and the score read 14-13 in favor of BILLY GOATZ at the half.

In the second half, both teams scored 20 points, demonstrating their high-power offensive strength.  With seconds left, MMG scored a touchdown to bring them within a point of BILLY GOATZ.  However, despite taking a timeout, MMG failed to score the extra point as Battaglini was sacked by Bekavac to end the game.  BILLY GOATZ came out on top by a final score of 34-33.

In terms of stats, both teams put up outstanding numbers.  BILLY GOATZ QB Jordan Fowler completed 81% of his passes while MMG QB Tony Battaglini completed 71%.  BILLY GOATZ Simon Bekavac recorded four receiving touchdowns and MMG Eric Livsey recorded a game-high five tackles for MMG.

It was BILLY GOATZ’s defense that led them to victory, coming up with a big stop in the end. MMG played solid defense as well, but like in their game against VAPOR, the offense came up short in the end.  The game-changer, though, was extra points, which MMG failed to convert multiple times. This is something they need to improve on for playoffs.

MMG still sits comfortably in first place in the Steel South with a record of 7-3.  Although BILLY GOATZ holds an impressive record of 7-1, they sit in second place in the Steel East behind undefeated STEELTOWN.

All in all, both teams played well in this one and showed their talent on both sides of the ball.  BILLY GOATZ and MMG are definitely teams I expect to make long playoff runs.
