After falling behind 13-9 against the RAVENS, the GIANTS engineered a tenacious comeback that resulted in a 16-13 win.

Emerging Middle Division star Toi Brown has become the closer that every football coach dreams about having. Once the RAVENS took the lead away from the GIANTS in the second half, Coach Sean Farr knew that he needed to score quickly as time was expiring in regulation.

ENTER TOI BROWN.

On a well executed play. GIANTS Quarterback and Youth League veteran Madden Barone faked a handoff to Nico Mowod and quickly delivered the ball to Brown’s breadbasket. Brown juked twice and within seconds the playmaker found himself in a foot race with the RAVEN defenders. As speedy as RAVENS Defensive Back Amier Murray is, Brown simply had too much of a lead for anyone to catch him.

For the majority of the first half Barone was playing the quarterback position as well as anyone else in the league. His beautiful throw to Mowod, punctuated by a spectacular one-handed catch in the end zone, was symbolic of good things to come for the GIANTS’ offense.

Unfortunately Barone committed a crucial turnover when he telegraphed a pass that RAVENS DB Demetris Egleston ended up intercepting. The error proved costly after Murray scored a rushing TD a few plays later.

Although the final score will be hard for the RAVENS to stomach, they should hold their heads for there were several positive takeaways from their performance against the G-MEN. First, QB Noam Pishoto is quickly turning into one of the best pure passers in the Middle Division. Second, the BIRDS have one of the most lethal receiving corps in the league with Mia Parrucci and Quadray Greenleaf (who scored the RAVENS’ second TD). Lastly, the defense anchored by the pass-rushing skills of Luke Gronbeck will be partiuclarly beneficial to the purple-and-black in the postseason.
