VENOM looked strong on their opening drive.

In this Week 4 matchup, I expected WRENIS PINKLES to come out and win strong against VENOM.  However, I was wrong and halfway through the game, it looked like VENOM might record their second win of the day.

VENOM looked strong on their opening drive.  QB Briant Thompson worked his team up the field and capped the drive off with a TD pass to WR Matthew Pollard.  WRENIS PINKLES responded with a TD of their own.  QB Cory Blotzer eluded tackles to reach the endzone and an extra point to Michael Daverio tied the game at 7-7.

Coming out of halftime, both teams were shaky on offense.  WRENIS PINKLES got the ball first, only to have Blotzer throw an interception to Ta Smith.  VENOM short-passed their way up the field, but WRENIS PINKLES stood their ground, resulting in a turnover on downs.

After taking turns on offense again, WRENIS PINKLES finally scored on their third possession of the half.  Blotzer threaded a pass to Daverio for what proved to be the game-winning TD reception.  VENOM got the ball back, but there was not enough time for their short-passing strategy and the game ended with a final score of 14-7.

Offensively, WRENIS PINKLES were led by QB Cory Blotzer, who threw for a TD and rushed for one also.  WR Michael Daverio had a team-high 3 receptions, along with a TD and 2 extra points.  On the defensive side, Daverio was the standout again, recording 4 tackles and one sack.

For VENOM, QB Briant Thompson commanded his team, completing 13 of his 25 passes and throwing for a TD.  WR Kevin Griffin led the way with 7 receptions while Matthew Pollard and Ramon Jordan each had three.  Defensively, Ta Smith recorded an interception.

VENOM came ready to play, but just fell short in this one.  I enjoyed their talkative and upbeat play, never giving up the whole game.  However, I was disappointed with WRENIS PINKLES.  At one point, two of their players cared more about the game going on next to them than their own team.  WRENIS PINKLES has strong talent overall, but their careless attitude needs to change if they want a successful season.
