Every time RAIDERS Coach Chris and TEXANS Coach Jason Russell get together to share war stories in the offseason Coach Jason always gloats about his undefeated record against Coach Chris. As an eye witness to several of these heated exchanges, I can attest to the passion that both coaches have for inspiring their players to exceed their potential when their teams face each other.

Although Coach Chris came into the game against the TEXANS with a proverbial monkey on his back, when the final whistle was blown the RAIDERS were victorious in an gut wrenching 18-12 win.

In fairness to the entire RAIDERS’ roster everyone contributed to the team’s success against Coach Jason’s TEXANS (quietest kept this man is the most gifted offensive playcaller in Youth League history after the immortal Dennis “Shor D” Wolford). Nevertheless one young man played exceptionally well in this game and his name is Peyton Psilos. Psilos threw for one touchdown to Jaden Manigault and rushed for two more, including the game-winner.

After suffering a stubbed finger due to the freezing temperatures, starting Pass Rusher Giada Muti missed the majority of the first and second halves. In her absence Coach Chris struggled to replace her uncanny ability to disrupt plays in the opposing backfield. When Muti finally returned to the game, she immediately contributed on defense. The talented young lady grabbed several tackles including one that ended a last-second comeback attempt by the TEXANS.

Coach Jason should feel especially upset with the outcome of this game because his team had a 12-6 lead in the first half. TEXANS Running Back Jeremy Klem was electric for his squad, scoring two rushing TDs.

At the end of the day, Coach Chris was finally able to exorcise the demon of being win-less against Coach Jason. If and when these teams meet again in the postseason, fans should expect the TEXANS to switch up their game plan.
