Last Sunday marked the start of the 2016 spring season for the Youth League.  Despite the cold weather, the kids came out ready to give it their all and play the game of flag football.

In the 13-15 year-old division, the PANTHERS lost to the FALCONS by a score of 40-6 in their first game.  The BEARS faced the SEAHAWKS in their first game and lost 19-6.  However, I think both teams will improve in the coming weeks and make their future games with the FALCONS and the SEAHAWKS closer battles.

In Week 2, the PANTHERS and the BEARS are set to face each other.  This seems like it will be a great matchup between these two teams.  Both teams are coming off of a loss in Week 1 and are eager to get their first win of the season.

Both the PANTHERS and the BEARS were lacking offense in Week 1 play.  Each team only scored a touchdown in their games and gave up three or more touchdowns to their opponents.

Under Coach Guy Vines, the BEARS show great promise.  Team members include Zyon Condon, Jonah Cook, Pharoh Fisher, Ptah Jackson, Elijah Kasuba, Nathan Valukevich, and Josiah Vaughn.

Under Coach Kevin Weatherspoon, the PANTHERS show equally great potential.  Team members include Braxton Allen, AJ Corrado, Samuel Novelli, Aidan Plummer, Matt Schmitt, Demetrius Weatherspoon, and Eli Wenger.

Both teams need to work on their overall play in the upcoming weeks both offensively and defensively.  The 13-15 year-old division usually contains the more veteran, experienced players, but there are always a few newcomers.  Many of the kids are just getting to know each other and have to get used to playing with one another.  I think this game is going to be a close one, with the winner being the team who is more organized, more in sync, and most adjusted from Week 1.

The matchup is scheduled for Sunday, April 10th at 4:30 p.m. on Field 2.
