The BLACK KNIGHTS came ready to play in this one and the PATRIOTS failed to.

We had an early morning STEEL South match-up on Sunday between the BLACK KNIGHTS and the PATRIOTS.  Going into the game, the PATRIOTS sat in second place in the division at an even 2-2 and BLACK KNIGHTS were in third place with a record of 1-2.

Early on, the game seemed like it would be an extremely competitive one.  Both defenses played strong, allowing only three total touchdowns in the half between the two teams.  At the end of the first half, the score sat at 12-7 in favor of the PATRIOTS.

However, the second half proved to be one-sided.  The BLACK KNIGHTS outplayed the PATRIOTS on both sides of the football, scoring 19 points compared to only 7 by the PATRIOTS.  At the end of the game, BLACK KNIGHTS came out on top by a score of 26-19.

BLACK KNIGHTS QB Zach Bahr had a strong outing, completing 13 of his 21 passes and throwing for 4 TD passes.  His passes were divvied up between wide receivers Kailon Lyons, Josh Pennybaker, and Kenneth Scott.  However, the standout WR proved to be Kenneth Scott, who led the team with 4 receptions and was responsible for all 4 of the team’s TD catches.

PATRIOTS QB Michael Carr had a solid game, completing 7 of his 11 passes, throwing for 2 TDs and running for one also.  However, he did not throw the ball as much as he usually does, which proved to hurt the team.  Carr’s favorite target was WR Jeff Holmes with a team-high four receptions and two TDs.  Defensively, the team was led by Isaac Hall with 6 tackles.

Although they displayed a strong outing in the first half, the PATRIOTS fell apart in the second both offensively and defensively.  They gave up three touchdowns to BLACK KNIGHTS and only scored one of their own.  The BLACK KNIGHTS came ready to play in this one and the PATRIOTS failed to.
