Overall, YGFT is a “new team” in name only. The fact that half of their team has competed at the championship level bodes well for a successful playoff run.

During my preseason analysis story on all of the new teams that are playing in the PFFL this spring, I somehow underestimated the winning potential of YGFT. Upon further review, this team’s roster features four ex-VULTUREZ. As a result YGFT has the perfect arsenal of veteran leadership.

Clearly YGFT has a competitive advantage over the other new teams in league. To that end, the 34-0 shutout win against BIG BLACK VOODOO DADDIES was not surprising.

YGFT Quarterback Ryan Cunningham was very productive in his debut in the PFFL. The rookie passer completed 62.5 percent of his passes with five touchdowns. While his two interceptions are causes for mild concern, his ability to put up points outweighs his negative plays.

James Speece led all receivers with five receptions and two touchdowns. Speece benefitted from the playmaking ability of the four ex-VULTUREZ, Jason Bialek, Ryan Lancia, Luke Hannan, and Zach Stewart. Each player ran their routes so precisely, that Cunningham was able to register most of his completions on his first reads.

Defensively, YGFT played lights out all game. Specifically, Zach Stewart (two interceptions) and Jesse Sturch (one interception) teamed up to plague VOODOO’s passing attack. In addition, Lancia, the perennial All-Star terrorized VOODOO’s quarterbacks with four tackles and two sacks. My early season prediction is that Lancia will set a new sack record that will put him in the running for DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
