The teams differed in terms of offensive strategies – ZIP EM UP relied on short passing and BLUNT FORCE took towards the long ball.

At the start, this STEEL Conference matchup seemed like it was going to be a competitive game.  However, the defensive play of ZIP EM UP proved to be too much for BLUNT FORCE.

The teams differed in terms of offensive strategies – ZIP EM UP relied on short passing and BLUNT FORCE took towards the long ball.

BLUNT FORCE started strong with an interception of QB Jeff Bollinger by CB Steven Killius.  However, they failed to score off the interception and ZIP EM UP passed their way down the field, resulting in the game’s first TD to WR Kory Vorum.

BLUNT FORCE answered when Chockla went deep to WR Molinaro for a TD to tie game at 6-6.  A TD rush and extra point conversion by Bollinger gave ZIP EM UP a 13-6 lead going into halftime.

The second half turned ugly for BLUNT FORCE offensively.  ZIP EM UP capitalized on several turnovers, scoring two TD’s to take the lead, 26-6.

Chockla had nowhere to throw and ZIP EM UP’s defense batted down his passes left and right.

Before the game ended, ZIP EM UP added two TDs – a long TD pass to Thornton and pick-six by Ashmore for a final score of 32-6.

Despite a strong arm, Chockla ended the game with just 5 completions for one TD pass.  Fletcher stood out on defense with a team-leading 5 tackles.  BLUNT FORCE has talent but needs to be more consistent on offense in order to win.

ZIP EM UP demonstrated a strong outing on both sides of the ball.  Bollinger threw for 3 TDS and completed 21 of his 27 passes.  The duo of Thornton and Ashmore carried the team to a victory, leading the team in receptions.  If Bollinger strengthens his play at QB and they keep up the strong defense, ZIP EM UP may prove to have a successful season.
