At the Pittsburgh Flag Football League, we cannot stress enough the importance that adults wanting to sign-up for the league do not wait until the last minute to register.  

In the adult league, interested players can sign-up two ways: as a free-agent or as a team.  This spring season the number of adult teams will be capped at 24 teams.  Many new teams who have never played before have already signed up with even more close to registering.  So, if you or your team wait too long, you could miss out on playing this season.

If you are signing up a team, you are required to roster a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 8 players.

Whether this is your first year or fifth year as a team in the PFFL, it is important to register your team early.  Signing up early gives your team more time to get organized and prepared for the upcoming season.  

As part of preparation for the upcoming season, make sure your team has some practices before the first game of the spring season.  You cannot expect to just show up and win on athleticism alone.  Teams should have around five well-operating offensive plays.  Having these will give your team an advantage over some of the late-registering, ill-prepared teams.  

All adult teams in the PFFL must have uniforms, whether that means actual uniforms or just wearing the same colored t-shirt.  Registering early gives your team more time to order uniforms or make sure everyone will have the same color shirt come game day.  You don’t want your team sent home for something as simple as matching shirts.

If you’re having trouble getting enough friends together to form a team, you can also join the league as a free agent.  By registering as a free agent, you are entered into a player pool to be drafted onto a team.

Adults signing up as free agents should register early to start making valuable impressions on teams looking to recruit.  The spring season Free Agent Combine gives free agents just the chance to do this. However, if you haven’t already registered prior to today, you already missed the combine.  At last Sunday’s combine, a total of six free agents worked out in a mix of light drills and scrimmaging.
