The BAD NEWS BEARS are new to flag football and its record shows. The team just came together for the last season of the YFFA, and although it didn’t win any games, it felt like the experience was good.

“We’re getting better every game,” T.J. Mohney said. “We’ve showed improvement, and we’re always show good sportsmanship.”

Though the team is getting better, the players will be the first to tell you that they aren’t ready to compete for a championship yet.

“We aren’t anywhere near competing yet,” Mohney said. “We’re just having fun right now.”

THE BAD NEWS BEARS ran into one of the PFFL’s offensive juggernauts, THE BULLDOGS, twice at Sunday’s tournament at Ursuline High School. The result didn’t turn out very good for the inexperience team.

“They Mercy Ruled us,” Mohney said. “We need to practice because we don’t even have plays.”

The team is looking to improve in the upcoming YFFA season, but whether or not more wins will come remains to be seen. However, THE BAD NEWS BEARS players say they just want to have fun and get some exercise.

“We don’t always have goals about winning,” Robbie Acevedo said. “Sometimes we just want to score a touchdown. Or have a long sustained drive.”
