This week STEELTOWN and SMOKE will face off in the Pittsburgh Flag Football League Fall 2015 season. The two teams from the STEEL EAST division will meet for the first time this season.

STEELTOWN, a league powerhouse, will enter the week 7-1. One of the best teams in the league, their only loss was at the powerful hands of fellow veterans PUCK U. Their offense has been incredibly strong, hitting double digits -up to 37 points- in all but one of their games. Chris Sullivan has been steady as always. The entire STEELTOWN roster is veteran and, as always, a force to be reckoned with.

SMOKE is off to a 5-3 start, and quarterback Fred Warrell has thrown for 25 touchdowns. Losing the last 3 straight, SMOKE will have quite an uphill battle against STEELTOWN.  The SMOKE defense has been slipping the last few weeks. They will need to be incredibly diligent if they want to put up a fight against the STEELTOWN offense.

Like most of the games coming up, there is a pretty clear favorite. The league has settled into the good teams and the bad teams. STEELTOWN represents the good team in this matchup. SMOKE is near the top of the bad teams, but none the less is one of the lower teams. But upsets are what shake things up, keep good teams from getting comfortable at the top, and push the bad teams to keep progressing. With that in mind, I’m rooting for SMOKE and all the other underdogs this week.
