Overall, the BROWNS are stacked defensively.

Similarly to the NFL’s Cleveland Browns team, the NFL Youth League BROWNS have struggled in previous seasons to put together a winning season. As a matter of fact this season got off to a rough start after the BROWNS were blown out by Coach Jason Russell’s CHIEFS 19-6. At the time contending for a championship was more fantasy than reality.

Nevertheless, every dog has his day, including the DAWG POUND. In a hard-fought battle against the STEELERS the BROWNS triumphed 13-6.

Julian Psilos started the game off with the first play from scrimmage when the BROWNS were on offense by going all the way to the end zone. If the BROWNS are able to replicate the success of their opening drive against the STEELERS throughout their remaining games then the DAWG POUND could find themselves in the championship with the CHIEFS.

Speaking of progression on offense, BROWNS’ Quarterback Roman Allen showed great patience in the pocket throughout the game. Specifically Allen shined when he threw a perfect strike to longtime player Matt Barone for a one-point conversion.

While winning is paramount to competing for a title, the STEELERS should feel good about their defense. Matthew Fulmore and Ray Russ collaborated to hurry or sack Psilos on several of his pass attempts. Also, the flag-pulling skills of Jayden Turner and Jacob Burgos was crucial to the defense’s ability to get off the field on third down.

Overall, the BROWNS are stacked defensively. While their offense is still a work in progress the young players should be optimistic for their playoff expectations because defense wins championships.
