When I decided to cover the Week 2 game between MYSTERY MEN and LIGHTS OUT, my expectations were that both teams would struggle offensively. After all these squads are more known for their defensive mentality as opposed to scoring points at a high clip.

Ironically MYSTERY MEN and LIGHTS OUT gave fans a treat with their back-and-forth trips to the end zone. Ultimately, MYSTERY MEN went on to win the game 35-26.

In the face of intense pressure from LIGHTS OUT’s pass rush, All-Star Bob Lee played like an elite quarterback. Specifically, the mobile signal-caller completed 17 of his 19 throws for five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Lee’s sterling passer rating of 118.8 is an encouraging sign for MYSTERY MEN’s playoff aspirations.

Contrary to popular belief MYSTERY MEN have an array of weapons in their receiving corps. Leading off for the MEN is none other than perennial All-Star WR/DB Scott Kaercher. After winning a championship with VAPOR over the summer, Kaercher is now intent on helping the MEN to reach the promised land. To that end, the talented playmaker led all receivers with 10 receptions and three TDs.

Further down the line of scrimmage a relatively unknown player named John Schohn put the rest of the league on notice about his receiving skills. The newcomer caught five receptions and one TD.

Despite coming up short against MYSTERY MEN, All-Star QB Vince Flotta looked more comfortable in the pocket for LIGHTS OUT than I have ever seen. Completing 65 percent of his passes for four TDs and just one pick is exactly the type of game that LIGHTS OUT needs consistently from Flotta.

Another reason for LIGHTS OUT to be optimistic this season is the emergence of Dan “Beaver” Voith as a number one receiver. Effortlessly, the underrated wideout led his team with seven receptions and four TDs. If he continues to make big plays then he will certainly earn his first trip to the All-Star game.
