“The last play I decided to run because I knew the rule and I knew they didn’t,”

The PFFL game of the day didn’t disappoint as the STALLIONS and SIX had a highly contested defensive contest that went to overtime. Unfortunately for the STALLIONS, the game ended on a misunderstanding of the rules, with SIX winning, 19-13.

After SIX stopped the STALLIONS on its first possession of overtime, all it had to do was score to win, and just about wrap up second place in the Iron West Division. George Williams rushed SIX quarterback Greg Kreigel, who beat the rush and ran for the touchdown.

The STALLIONS thought that since SIX was in the no rush zone, that it couldn’t run even if it blitzed.

“The last play I decided to run because I knew the rule and I knew they didn’t,” Kreigel said. “I guess some good advice is to know the rules.”

Kreigel finished the game 14 for 22 with three touchdowns (one rush), but three interceptions. His opposing quarterback, Jason Orsini, finished 19 for 25 with one touchdown, but also three costly interceptions.

SIX led, 13-6, at the half, but made too many mistakes in the second half that allowed the STALLIONS to stay in the game. With just over three minutes left, Orsini handed the ball of to speedy Elliot Williams, who ran it in for the touchdown.

Each team had one more possession before the overtime, but fittingly for this game, each threw an interception.

“Once we got into overtime,” Kreigel said. “I was just thinking I don’t want to throw another interception.”

Kreigel didn’t, and despite falling later in the day to division rival the TITANS, SIX was able to hang on to second place and improve its playoff seeding.
