“We just want to try and win our next game for real.”

As the grueling PFFL regular season reached its final week, it began to take a toll on many teams; one of those teams being SHAKE & BAKE.

SHAKE & BAKE went into its game with only three players, but were hoping to still get a win against previously winless BAD NEWS.

However, BAD NEWS had other thoughts as it dominated the shorthanded SHAKE & BAKE, 30-0, to get its first ever win in the PFFL.

“It’s better than losing, but they only had three guys so that helps,” BAD NEWS quarterback Teddy Lesko said. “It definitely beats going home with a loss.”

BAD NEWS was in control from the first possession of the game when its defense didn’t allow SHAKE & BAKE to advance the ball at all. It then capitalized on its defensive momentum by scoring on a trick play where Lesko handed the ball off to Tyler Caruso, who then found Lesko streaking down the field.

In fact, BAD NEWS had the deep ball working all game.

Danny (Lekawa) and Tony (Tavella) are quick and were able to beat the man coverage,” Lesko said. “I was just fortunate enough to put it on the money today.”

SHAKE & BAKE provided a valiant shorthanded effort, and in the second half began to advance the ball. But the difference in players proved to be too much for the team to get on the scoreboard.

With all teams advancing to next week’s PFFL playoffs, even BAD NEWS has a chance to win it all. But the team seems to be taking it just one win at a time.

“This probably doesn’t give us much momentum going into the playoffs,” Lesko said. “We just want to try and win our next game for real.”
