STEELTOWN Defense Comes Through Big

“We were able to shut them down on the run,” Steve Orlando

It’s usually the offense of STEELTOWN that receives credit, but in its dominating, 26-0, victory over SIX, it was the defense receiving all the praise.

“We were able to shut them down on the run,” Steve Orlando said. “And after that, they didn’t even try to go deep on us.”

Orlando played a stellar all-around game, catching four passes for two touchdowns, while sacking SIX quarterback, Greg Kreigel, twice as well. Orlando says one thing is motivating him defensively.

“I want to beat Goose (Fisher) in sacks,” he said. “I need to get three sacks a game, that way I’ll beat Goose.”

With the way STEELTOWN is beating opponents, any extra motivation could be a scary thing for the rest of the PFFL.

Orlando wasn’t the only defensive star of the game, as Chris Conrad continued his torrid interception pace, picking off three Kreigel passes.

When asked about Conrad’s defensive production, quarterback Chris Sullivan could only smile and say, “Yeah, he’s a pretty good safety.”

STEELTOWN’s offense didn’t slack however, as it was able to score on all four of its possessions. Sullivan converted on 13 of 16 passes, and threw for four touchdowns. He did throw his first interception of the season on a failed extra-point attempt.

With the victory, STEELTOWN increased its division lead to 3.5 games over SIX, which seems to be struggling as of late.

STEELTOWN clearly appears to be the best team in the PFFL after beating BALLZ DEEP two weeks ago. If the trend continues, the two could be on a collision course to meet in the playoffs.
