“They might have been good athletes in high school, but this is a completely different game.”

The TITANS were able to keep pace in the Iron Conference playoff picture by defeating division opponent BAD NEWS, 27-6.

After the win, TITANS quarterback P.J. McGuigan had some advice for the young BAD NEWS nucleus, which has yet to win a game this season.

“I don’t think them talking really motivated us too much. We have been playing together for a very long time,” he said. “They might have been good athletes in high school, but this is a completely different game.”

The TITANS scored on its first possession on a long McGuigan rush. The first possession for BAD NEWS didn’t go as well, ending after only four plays.

Finally, on the second possession for BAD NEWS it was able to gather some momentum. Quarterback Danny Lekawa found Tony Tavella for the touchdown, cutting the TITANS lead to, 7-6.

The TITANS didn’t waste time striking next, as McGuigan found Jason Bialek for the touchdown on the last play of the first half.

After that score, the TITANS never looked back. McGuigan believes he was able to figure out the BAD NEWS defense early on.

“They were playing us deep,” he said. “And it’s hard to run the same play over and over, it gets boring. But that’s what the really good teams are able to do.”

The TITANS are in third place in the Iron West division, 4.5 games behind leader STEELTOWN, but only one game behind second-place SIX. This division battle could very well come down to the final week of the regular season.
