The BULLDOGS used its explosive offense and an improved defense to deliver a dominating performance and defeat THE U, 28-6.

BULLDOGS quarterback Eugene Smith connected with Zack Gorney for a long touchdown strike on the second play from scrimmage. Gorney said he knew how to beat the defense right from the start.

“We were able to do whatever we wanted out there. We could get it to the receivers anytime,” he said. “They were slacking too much on defense. They gave us too much room and we took advantage.”

Despite the early strike, newcomers THE U were not immediately intimidated. On its first drive, Sam Simon was able to connect with Robert Brown for a touchdown, capping off a long drive.

However, that would be the last time THE U would be able to sustain a drive.

The BULLDOGS were able to score on its next drive, coming again from the combination of Smith to Gorney. The BULLDOGS took a, 21-6, lead into halftime, and never looked back.

Eugene Smith finished the game 9 for 12, throwing for three touchdowns while rushing for one more. Gorney had only three receptions, but took of them went for touchdowns.

Gorney also anchored the defense, as he was able to reach THE U quarterback Sam Simon three times.

Although Gorney was excited about the win, he did see some promise in THE U for the remainder of the season.

“They’re a first time team so they didn’t have all their stuff together right now,” he said. “But you can tell they have some talent.”
