BALLZ DEEP Delivers Plenty of BAD NEWS

BALLZ DEEP left nothing to chance in its, 26-6, victory over newcomers BAD NEWS. In fact, the outcome seemed evident from the opening drive when Gary “Goose” Fisher sacked BAD NEWS quarterback Tyler Caruso on third and fourth down.

“I just try to rush the quarterback and cut down the angles so they can’t get passed me,” Fisher said. “The most important thing is being able to cut down the angles.”

Fisher, who teammate Eric Hantz calls “The Sack Machine,” finished the game with five tackles, three of which were sacks.

After stopping BAD NEWS on its opening drive, BALLZ DEEP didn’t wait long to strike. Veteran quarterback Steve Chockla found Hantz streaking behind the defense down the sideline for a touchdown on the team’s first offensive play.

Chockla finished the game 14 for 20 with four touchdowns, while Hantz caught two touchdown passes. Jeremy Greenawalt and Chris Nasri each added touchdown receptions.

The offense scored on its first three possessions to gain a comfortable 20-point cushion. The defense was able to smother Caruso, giving BAD NEWS no opportunity to find its rhythm.

BAD NEWS was finally able to break through and gain a first down with just under seven minutes left in the game. The drive ended in a Caruso touchdown run.

With BALLZ DEEP being a veteran team, it felt the need to teach some things to the newcomers, who previously had choice words to say on the PFFL message board.

“We knew they were a younger team so we just had to teach them a few things,” Fisher said. “We were the same way when we first started. We thought we were the best team ever, and we would get killed by everyone.”
