A Fresh Perspective

As the PFFL summer season approaches, there are many questions left to be answered. Such as, will the four returning teams from the spring (BALLZ DEEP, the BULLDOGS, the STALLIONS, TEAM GET SMOKED) revamp its teams enough to make a significant championship run this summer?

All signs point to BALLZ DEEP as being one of the early favorites in the Iron Conference, as it should return several key parts from a team that went, 6-4, in the spring. Cornerback Jeremy Greenawalt should return as one of the league’s leading tacklers, while quarterback Steve Chockla, is hoping to repeat his success coming off of a season in which he lead the league with 33 touchdowns.

However, the Stallions will be anxious to challenge in the Iron Conference as well, after only three wins in the spring. The team should return the dangerous WR tandem of Aaron Kujundic (48 receptions) and Tim Orsini (39 receptions). Throwing these two the ball will be the conference’s third leading touchdown man, Jason Orsini.

The Steel Conference is harder to pick a favorite, although the BULLDOGS are coming into the summer season with a much improved defense. The BULLDOGS should return the conference’s leader in touchdowns (Eugene Smith) and receptions (Zack Gorny), but offense wasn’t the issue for the team in the spring.

TEAM GET SMOKED will make the jump from the Iron Conference to the Steel Conference for the summer season. Steve Menoski tossed 30 touchdown passes in the spring, and completed 58 passes to WR Brandon Carter, making them the league’s most prolific tandem.

One thing is certain; we are in store for a great summer season, which begins Sunday, June 6th.
