Earlier this season I questioned PRIMETIME’s ability to win their third championship with the PFFL due to the absence of All-Star deep threat Bruce Thornton. In addition I also wondered if PRIMETIME would be able to stave off a VAPOR team that was itching to reclaim another trophy.

Fortunately for PT, my concerns were much ado about nothing. In a championship game against PUCK U, PRIMETIME defeated the overachievers from the STEEL Conference 41-7.

Since All-Star Quarterback Jason Scott has been at the helm of PRIMETIME’s offense, he has led them to three championships. Scott’s performance at the big dance was exceptional as usual. The signal-caller completed 80 percent of his passes for five touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Apparently the absence of Thornton resulted in the emergence of Wide Receiver CJ Baker. Although he caught just three receptions in this game, his ability to stretch the field was pivotal in helping PRIMETIME win the title. Baker’s productivity also helped his fellow receivers Kenny Ashmore (three receptions, two TDs), Tahir Jackson (four receptions, two touchdowns), and Troy Declair (one reception, one TD).

After watching the way that PUCK U looked in the championship against PT after winning a challenging game over DECEPTICONS in the STEEL championship, I noticed that there was a significant dropoff in the losing squad’s performance in the title game. After learning from the league commissioner that they would be moved from the IRON Conference to the STEEL Conference, PUCK U took full advantage of their new playoff journey. Since HAVOC was not in the playoff picture this time, the road to the championship was much easier for the league’s runner up. While advancing to the season’s most important game is impressive, doing so in the PFFL equivalent of the NBA’s Eastern Conference leads me to believe that PUCK U overachieved.

CONGRATULATIONS PRIMETIME!
