My Ideal All Star Team

This Sunday the PFFL will hold its inaugural All-Star game, matching some of the best players from the PFFL against former University of Pittsburgh football players. I, for one, am very interested to see how the PFFL players stack up against former Division 1-A athletes. There certainly will not be a lack of talent on the field this Sunday, at least on the PFFL team's side of the ball. The PFFL just named its first ever All-Star team, and it's full of standout players. After watching 2 weeks of games, I decided to cast my own All-Star ballot, even though it won't count.

After much deliberation, here's who I would have taking the field this Sunday for the PFFL All-Stars:

QB: Mike Kregiel, CHAOS. The most important position on the flag football field is undoubtedly the quarterback position. He has the ball in his hands every play on offense, he calls the plays, and he's usually the team leader. I'm not a fan of the two quarterback system, so I'm only naming one starting QB to my All-Star team, and Mike Kreigal is the guy. Sporting a 68% completion percentage and a 17-0 TD-INT ration, he's the most important player on the best team in the league, and is the leader of the most potent offense in the league. Mike's the biggest reason why Chaos has dominated its opponents so far this season.

WR: Andy Krawchyk, THE NEW TEAM. Since switching to playing almost exclusively Wide Receiver over the past few games, Andy has put up huge numbers and TNT hasn't lost a game. Andy runs crisp routes and catches almost everything thrown his way, which is no small feat since TNT is still searching for its full-time QB. TNT is full of athletes and Andy is as good as it gets. In his last 2 games he has gone off for 20 total catches, 6 TDs, and 3 Extra Points. And, he's done all this while be covered by the best athletes on the other side of the ball. By the end of the season, Andy is going to be the league's best WR, if he isn't already.

Center/WR: Mark Kobistek, CHAOS. Mark is Chaos' number one receiving target. Kobistek and fellow All-Star Mike Kreigal always seem to be on the same page, and they have been wreaking havoc on defenses all season. Mark has 33 receptions and 17 TDs through just 7 games. Those are insanely high numbers and I bet he keeps putting them up.
WR: Brian Perry, HAWKS. Perry is the only one whose numbers come close to Kobistek, with 31 receptions and 15 TDs through 8 games. Perry is a big reason the Hawks are near the top of the league standings, and he's a threat to score every time with almost half of his receptions going for touchdowns.

Defense: Frank Swick, HAWKS. Swick has been a force on defense all season, whether he's dropping back in coverage or pressuring the quarterback. His 2 sacks and 3 interceptions don't do his defensive abilities justice. Frank is the most valuable player on the Hawks defense, and he will continue to be a force.

Defense: DJ Douglas, CHAOS. 3 players from one team may seem like a lot, but when that team hasn't lost a game, and only one game has even been close, then that team must have some playmakers. And, DJ has been one of those players. He is the best defensive back in the league , with 8 picks in only 5 games, a stat that might be more impressive than any offensive stat in the league considering how much the PFFL is setup for offensive shootouts. Chaos has given up more than 14 points only once this season, and DJ has been their defensive MVP.
