Carl has been a defensive playmaker over the first few weeks of the season, with 13 tackles through 6 games, making him the league’s third leading tackler. Carl struggled to make an impact against the New Team this past Sunday, but It had more to do with opportunity rather than performance. He was in the game for only about half of his team’s defensive snaps, and had very few opportunities on offense. On the defensive side of the ball, Carl did have a nice pass breakup on a deep ball, a couple of tackles, and would have had an interception if not for an offensive pass interference penalty that looked dangerous enough that it could’ve knocked him out of the game. Most importantly, the New Team did not score when Carl was patrolling the field as a defensive back, but scored on every possession that he was on the sidelines.
Offensively, Carl was thrown to only a few times, but did have his man beaten badly on a fly route, but the ball was under thrown and picked off.

Carl said the Stingers are a team comprised of free agents and that they have only known each other for a few weeks. But, he thinks their team is coming together. They have added a few plays, and Carl feels that they are an “up and coming” team that can compete with every other team in the league.
